What exactly are termites?

There are some special-looking termites known as casts that are responsible for their own part in the colony. Similar to bees are, they’re queens, the largest insect in the group, and it’s the longest living insect in the world. Some termites might have wings, but they usually fall off once males and women join to form a new colony.

They operate in exactly the same manner as other ants. Each termite has a place in the hierarchy. They can be workers, soldiers, or even responsible for reproduction.
